Sunday Dinner

Last meal of the week-end two weeks ago was a summery Sunday dinner for eight.

Vintage table cloth for the round table from Mom's house.
One from a set of cloths Mom made on the long table.
Menu:  fresh corn on the cob, asparagus
Heirloom tomatoes ready to slice and serve on this iron stone platter along with mozzarella and basil.
Delish soft shell crabs dredged in corn meal, a bit of flour and pepper.  Sauteed in olive oil and butter,  finished with a garlic/lemon/wine sauce.
I forgot to take after cooking pictures last week, but we had soft shells this Sunday too.  It was waaay too hot to eat outside this week.  This is this week-end's batch.

Last week potato salad from a guest's kitchen, this week pasta salad.  Iced tea, beer and wine.  For dessert a mix of peaches and blueberries over cubes of pound cake and whipped cream.

Totally fab cuisine de New Jersey on a summer night.  And the mosquitoes stayed away.

Poolside Flowers

We had diving championships last week.  These colorful pots were on the pool deck.

I took these in the early morning, before we all wilted in the 100+ degree Washington heat wave.
For lovely blooms visit Today's Flowers # 153.

It is sweltering hot today but the week-end was fine.  We ate every meal on the deck.

Super juicy white and yellow peaches from North Carolina, Jersey blues and first of the second raspberry crop with Greek yogurt.
Scrambled eggs with potatoes, salmon and mushrooms,
Heirloom tomato, bacon and croissants.
 Post and the Times.
"Yummers said Emily."  (Anyone else know this kid's book?  Too cute.)
