Surf's Up

Surf was fine last week in S Nags Head.

Today we are down the coast in Avon at our second week's house and the beaches from Delaware to Florida are being buffeted by Danielle.  Over 100 rescues in Virginia Beach alone. 

 So our beach time was on the sand.

High surf and rip currents are forecast through Sunday night and Earl is coming behind Danielle.  This is the fifth anniversary of Katrina.

Skateboard Ready to Roll

T loves skateboards.  First thing he did with this $15 find was take off the wheels.

 

Step 2:  Prep...Sand and prime two coats.

 

Step Three:  Paint.  He painted two coats of white, taped his stripes, and painted two coats of black.

One more gold stripe.

Step Four:  Pulling the tape.

Step Five:  Poly coat for durability.

Step Six:  Put the trucks on.

And we're ready to roll.

Good DIY training  and a lesson in patience.

Yard Sale Finds

 On the way to the farm market last Saturday we stopped by a great yard sale.  Too bad the kid golf clubs were gone, but we still got good buys.  I spotted this box.

Here's what it contained.

That's like 12 cents a piece.  Next I saw this for $5.

Who can't use an extra mirror?  And the kids scored too.

$15.  DIY now in progress on the skateboard decks.
