Great estate sale this past week-end.
First on Friday I got "material" for $6. This had been made into curtains, but it was my favorite sheet pattern.
Really brand new. King and full sizes, both lined with plain white sheets. My little seam ripper made quick work of that while I watched March Madness. (Go VCU.) Into the laundry and on to a bed. SIX dollars people!!
On Sunday I went back for 1/2 price day and got some bargains.
Two boxes $3 ...
already on the laundry room shelf for flower supplies. Knew they'd be the perfect size.
A woven coverlet in poor condition $20, I'm thinking pillows or maybe a Christmas tree skirt? Great red and green color ...
Candle sticks with a charming etched design, one repaired but I don't care. $7.
Plus a blue glass canning jar for coffee on the counter, $4.
And I got someone else who was hesitating to give a good home to a lovely Flying Geese quilt for $125. Not my colors or I'd have taken it.
And from Goodwill ... PFS found an Altman poster, framed, $14.50. I baby sat from Altman once when we were at Penn State where he taught art. We have other original works by him. Think I'll paint the frame black. The color doesn't show here but it has nice subdued greens. Plus another unframed one even cheaper at $3.50.

Flowers a la Eddie
Eddie Ross tweeted a great arrangement idea that I just had to make my own. I have out of town guests coming this week and already had an arm full of yellow flowers from the grocery store that I planned to use with daffodils from the yard.
I used my silver rowing trophies and baby cups on a silver cake plate.
'Course I'll have to add daffs during the week, but the mums, carnations and lilies should be fine.
Lookin' fine. Thanks Eddie!
To round out the house I put flowers downstairs in the "Smith Hotel" ...
bedside, (the hippo is a talking flashlight)
and in the living room.
There are more spread around the house. I always have tons of flowers.

Didn't Get the Message
Wasn't it Spring?
Luckily there was a quick melt. For more flowery pictures starting with some lovely tulips visit Today' Flowers # 137.

Maple Road
This was our first house. PSU grad student living space. We have very few pictures of this.
No staging here. Living room. Note desk, wing chair, mirror, tables and lamps! Playing the guitar with T these days. Still have 'em.
View to the kitchen. Magazine rack, Martha Washington sewing table, lamp. stool in the kitchen. Still have 'em.
Kitchen. Whale board Dad made me, blender, copper tea kettle, Corning coffee pot (I use it for cooking asparagus), table, chair. Even that green Tupperware bowl! Still have 'em.
Bedroom. Dresser, bed, red/black blanket "Rutgers" made by PFS's Aunt Mary, bookcase, clock, "big white thing"...still have 'em.
The ONE closet, and a view of the bathroom. Dresser, little shelf, mirror. Still have 'em.
See why I say we STILL live like grad students?
This housing has been taken down and replaced with new buildings.
