Kitchen

Here's some views of my kitchen.

Other than the new LG french door refrigerator there are no new appliances. I'm looking for an oven and microwave and a new exhaust fan.
I love the instant hot water. Double sink, not so much - but I use the deep laundry sink for big items like the punch bowl. This picture was prep for a party, we don't use a punch bowl everyday!

The island's plain white back we replaced with beadboard and I painted it the blue of the dining room
. Just matches the blue in the rug.

There's great pantry space and room for some of my most used cookbooks.

On top of the cabinets I display some of my collection of old kitchen stuff. Someday I will strip the paper which is not in the best of shape. As wallpaper goes it's pretty reasonable, but I'd sure rather paint than strip when I want to make a change.

I'd like a light and glass shelves in this cabinet to show off the glass and copper.

Here the kitchen is cooking! Our friend Marc Walker, owner and fabulous chef of La Plume d' Oie in La Roque-Gageac, France, came for Thanksgiving last year. He graciously offered to cook a delicious Virginia leg of lamb I got from the butcher shop Let's Meat on the Avenue in DelRay. Umm good!

We love this window by the table. Sometimes the window is a stage...

or a window on the wild world (drink the water, leave the begonias please!)...

and sometimes a cozy place to play or nap.

This is way better than our proposed addition.

  1. You have excellent organizational skills, Pat! The way you utilized every available space in your kitchen for a specific purpose is very admirable. The kitchen is also one of my most favorite places in our house. You see, I love to cook, and I want to feel comfortable whenever I cook. For this reason, it is important to maintain proper ventilation in the kitchen at all times.
