Garfield Girls

A mini reunion thanks to Facebook and Hometown Long Branch connections. A quick last minute dinner was arranged when I saw Jane was nearby at a workshop. Jane, her partner Chickie, Gail and my sister enjoyed the deck and dinner.

With the host.

We grew up on the same beach.  We rented Gail's family house after we sold 1227.  And in fact, I babysat on the street before we moved there and I remember Janie and her family when.... These are Jane 's beach photos.....cove side for swimming
and  jetty side for surfing.
Dinner was summer cuisine of New Jersey:  a quick grilled steak, asparagus, tomato and mozzarella, potato salad. Fresh berries for dessert.

Great old stories around the table.

Mother's Day/Birthday Dinner

My favorite foods were on the menu.
Soft shell crabs (I'm to lazy to pick hard shells)
dusted with cornmeal
and sauteed in oil/butter.

Garlic/wine and lemon pan sauce.

Yogurt/mayo tartar sauce on the side.

Baguette

Fresh corn

Asparagus

Strawberries from the farmer's market for dessert.  Yummers.

After School Snack

The requested snack:  a salad of lettuce, tomato, cucs and raspberries (just getting ripe) with Newman's Own.
This healthy dish was topped off with cake and ice cream.

Monday Peony Party

The garden is in full bloom, incredibly lush.  The peonies are superb this year.

Time for a party.  Iced tea, lemonade in the kitchen. Wine and cheese on the deck.
Coffee in the dining room.
Antipasto

Salmon mix
 Desserts, my sister's pound cake

Brownies
It couldn't have been easier.  I made the salmon mix, lemonade and coffee and whipped some cream.  The rest was from the store....grapes, berries and veggies, marinaded mushrooms and artichokes, stuffed olives from the deli bar, bread, brownies, cheese and crackers.  It's just a matter of presenting it well.  It was a perfect night on the deck, not too warm, no bugs and good friends.
