Inside Play
I've shoveled all the snow I can for now. We finally have the front drive open (thanks Michael!) ...but more snow expected!! Hard to believe.
With nothing else to do I moved furniture around and rehung some art work. Here's the new look for the family room. The boys have gotten so tall all of a sudden that territorial disputes broke out on the love seat I had near the TV. So I moved the big sofa closer to the TV. Don't laugh, I did it alone, using the boys' skate boards under the sofas.
I angled the love seat and moved the bigger wing chair with its footstool. The lighting is better for reading in both places.
This print that was on the mantle is a better fit between the TV and the china cabinet.
The art from the kitchen looks good against the brick fireplace.
The smaller chair can be pulled in front of the fireplace with ease.
Did you notice the huge orchid plant in the pictures above? My sister gave me a heads up that the left over orchids from Valentine's day were on sale at Safeway ... $15!

Snow Play Inside
The street was finally plowed 5 minutes before the first flakes of the 2010 Blizzard so I made a quick trip to Home Depot for a new gallon of my favorite paint...Pewter Mug. I spent the whole day working on the back wall of the family room that extends into the kitchen
You can see the drifts on the deck.
Looks much better.

S'no Fun
Ok already.
No snow men for December 19-20 "Snowpocalype" ... way too deep.
Here's the first "mini" snow fall Feb 3. After snowmen building we even got down to grass.
You can see the remains of the snow fort.

Clearing the trees before the "Snoverkill" blizzard of February 9-10.
Snow began at 4PM Tuesday. This is Wednesday morning's blizzard conditions.
Wednesday night ... the drifts on the front walk.
and the deck ...
This says 22", after the wind blew through. I think by averaging we got about 10" of new snow.
We did break DC's record for total snowfall. Reagan National Airport (DCA) reported 1" of snow between 1 and 2 p.m., upping its storm total to 9.8". It has received 54.9" this year, exceeding the 54.4" of 1898-1899. Records have been kept since 1884, 126 years. If we have to have it we might as well be #1, but s'no fun Thursday digging out again.
