Vintage Snowflakes

Since we seldom have snow at Christmas...well we had an early dusting yesterday...

I broke out the old foil snowflakes this year.  These  are quite fragile from years of folding.  I think they date from the early 60's.

I put them on the mantle with the pop up Christmas books, an old tea tin and magnolia leaves from the yard.

I love to see them catch the light and move in the warm air from the fire.

The boys can easily get the books down for reading enjoyment.

  3. I remember those old snow flakes. They were foil and I bet my Mother threw away more than you have there. If we had only known then what we know now. It's kind of funny how I'm so drawn to the same things that I wouldn't have been caught dead with 20 years ago! Your mantel looks very festive and beautiful! Thank you so much for your comments on my blog. I appreciate them more than I can express.

  7. Your fireplace is lovely! So warm and cozy looking, and those snowflakes add just the right amount of sparkle! Love that old clock too. It looks alot like one that I have. It worked perfectly for years, and then all of a sudden, it stopped working. I really miss it's ticking!
    Happy VCM!
